This teacher-designed mechanical model allows you to easily demonstrate alternating and direct current for your students. Ping-Pong balls representing charges are positioned in the path of a gearbox. When the teacher rotates the gearbox in one direction, the ping pong balls flow in one direction representing direct current. A small holder on top of the unit holds an LED and a bi-directional LED. When these are connected to a 9V power supply the bi-directional LED will light up; the other LED will light depending on the direction of the current flow. When the teacher changes direction and switches the power supply leads, the current flows the opposite direction. The bi-directional LED will change color while the other either turns on or shuts off. When the teacher rotates the gearbox back and forth the ping-pong balls will oscillate representing alternating current. Size: 25.5 x 35.5 x 5 cm. Developed by SK product development team.
