Product Information

Water with relatively high levels of calcium and magnesium salts is called hard water. Salts of calcium and magnesium interfere with the cleansing action of soap by tying up the soap molecules in insoluble complexes.
The amount of calcium and magnesium in tap water can be determined by titration of the samples with an organic chelating agent, EDTA, and the use of an indicator which allows the point at which all ions have reacted with the EDTA to be determined.
Includes: 4 X 500mL EDTA Solution, 2 X 200mL Buffer Solution, 2 X 15mL EBT Solution.
Required but not included: 15 each 100mL Beakers, 15 each 250mL Erlenmeyer Flasks, 15 each Buret, Buret clamps and ring stands, 15 each 50mL pipette with pipette bulb.
