Product Information

You’d be amazed at what’s inside an average baseball.
We found everything from yarn and cork to cigarette butts and confetti! With this kit, developed by John Seryak and Wendy Combs, students gather data and test the performance of different grades of baseballs.
Then they dissect the baseballs to study the contents and specifications of each. After drawing conclusions about what makes a better baseball, students design and construct their own, using materials from home. Then it’s time to play ball, to test out their designs. Grades 7-12.
Complete kit includes 3 baseballs, sample baseball construction materials (leather, rubber bands, high-bounce ball, 2 types of yarn, X-acto knife, corks), a calibrated PVC ball bounce pipe, a transparency and complete instructions. Refill kit includes everything but the bounce tube. For grades 6-12.
