This kit makes it perfectly clear. By observing and analyzing four mystery solutions when reacted with a series of indicators, students will determine the identities of four classes of macromolecules or nutrients — proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and vitamin C. This lab also emphasizes the importance of good nutrition, by explaining how the human body use these nutrients. The use of microscale techniques minimizes waste and reduces hazards.
The entire lab can be completed in 40 minutes. Includes materials for seven student groups, a teacher’s guide with instructions, answers and references, and a reproducible student guide with glossary, background information, step-by-step procedures and hand-in worksheets.
