Product Information

Throw your students a curve ball, literally, and show them one too, with this great visual device, developed by teacher Bruce Yeany. This device helps students to see and better understand the components of motion in two directions. The entire unit simply attaches to most blackboards or vertical surfaces (at least 154 cm long). Beads hang from the horizontal bar at regular intervals but at varying lengths, to form a parabolic curve. Regularly spaced units on the horizontal bar illustrate how the ball is traveling a constant distance over time, while the varying units on the vertical bar illustrate how the ball is traveling an increasing distance over time due to gravity. The concept is easily reinforced by simply throwing a ball along the line of the parabolic curve. Includes a teacher’s guide. Some assembly is required. Grades 10–12.
