Afterimages, blind spots, taste tests and nerve mapping are all part of this hands-on kit designed to let students objectively test their senses.
Students will predict and test for the color of afterimages, map individual blind spots, map taste regions on the tongue, experience the relationship between the senses of smell and taste, perform temperature tests to experience sensory adaptation, and map out individual heat and cold receptors on the forearm. The entire lab can be completed in 40 minutes.
Includes materials for 7 student groups: whistle, washable ink pad, pipe cleaners, assorted stickers, cotton swabs, paper cups, beads; steel probes, rubber stamp, solutions of sucrose, sodium chloride, quinine and acetic acid, flash cards, and complete
instructions featuring a teacher’s guide with answers and references, and reproducible student guides with glossary, background information, step-by-step procedures and hand-in worksheets.
