Product Information

Grades K - 1
Explore the properties of color and shape while examining the repeating nature of patterns. Students will use and sort a variety of materials to determine if they magnify an image. During these learning experiences, students are introduced to a different world, one in which hidden details suddenly surface and the resulting observations become richer and more meaningful.

Grades 2 - 3
Learn how young learners will engage in the study of shadows cast by objects. Through concrete experiences participants will encounter the idea that objects do not all interact with light in the same manner. Participants discover the power and magnitude of our Sun including that light energy is capable of causing changes in matter. They will also be introduced to the concepts of absorption and reflection of light.

Grades 4 - 5
Learn how intermediate learners will explore the reflective properties of mirrors and other tools to study symmetry by reflection, and how to redirect light in predictable ways. Participants will also engage in activities in which light is refracted in ways that cause an object to appear larger, smaller or to be in a different location than the actual object.

Grades 6 - 8
Using light and optical systems as an instructional focus, participants experience an example of vertical alignment that will provide students with multiple opportunities to develop concepts tested on TAKS. These are interdisciplinary lessons that integrate science with mathematics, reading, writing, and social studies.
