Product Information
Appropriate for Grades 6-11
Students use this class set of 8 buoyancy blocks in activities, developed by
teacher Eric Hauge, to discover the relationship between an object's density
and its buoyancy in water. They also will learn the density of water and how
it is used to define the basic unit of mass in the metric system: the gram.
The 8 blocks have differing dimensions, masses and densities, and are
designed so that half of them sink and half float. The instruction booklet
includes lessons and experiments with ready to reproduce worksheets that can
be used to teach length, volume and mass measurement; volume and density
calculations, and buoyancy.
Required but not included: balances, centimeter rulers and large beakers.
