This simple demo allows students to find the center of gravity of two different shapes by an experimental method.
One shape can be easily determined mathematically, the other must be determined experimentally. To further the learning experience, students can try to find the center of gravity of shapes they design and cut out of cardboard or tag board.
For an additional challenge, they can attempt to balance the shapes at their center of gravity.
The two included shapes can be marked with whiteboard markers and are easily cleaned with a whiteboard eraser.
