Cork, known primarily for its use as bottle stoppers, comes from the bark (suberose parenchyma) of the cork oak. This raw material, with its light-weight honeycomb structure, impermeability to liquids and gas, and its flexible membrane has a wide variety of applications, from stoppers to floats, from flooring tiles to gasket material, from clothing to coasters.
