During the late Triassic Period, Kayentapus minor roamed the Culpeper Basin in what is now Virginia. Its trackways are still visible today. This unique kit allows students to employ methods by ichnologists and paleontologists to make a cast from a replica taken from the actual cast that developer Sue Cox Kaufmann obtained from the site. The track replica and casts made from it can be used to determine characteristics of the living Theropod, such as leg length, speed and approximate size and mass. Four drawn colored prints of this biped allow your students to cut them out, label, and lay down a four print trackway that Sue traced from the actual impressions on site. Stride dimensions, pace angulation, and velocity can be determined by the stride length. A full color poster of the flora of the arid Triassic Period is included with a key. All kit materials, lesson plans and reproducible student activities are designed to recreate this incredible scientific discovery right in your classroom. Includes enough materials for four molds.
