Product Information

Appropriate for Grades 9-12

Students will first build a primitive compass that will concretely expose the difference between geographic north and magnetic north. Next, they will use a PASCO magnetic field sensor to model the Earth’s magnetic field using a bar magnet. This activity can be completed in two 50-minute lab sessions.

Includes instructions and materials for 30 students. Requires two sensors and one USB Link or one Xplorer Datalogger for each group of students. If your computer does not have two USB ports, then you will need a USB 4-Port Hub.
