Edvotek Toxicity Detection of Pollutants in Freshwater
|
Product Information
This Ecotechnology™ experiment has been adapted from a freshwater quality test which uses Daphnia magna to determine toxicity levels of freshwater and to observe the effects of Toxicity Reduction and Evaluation (TRE). A simulated "toxicant" is provided to simulate environmental insults in freshwater lakes, rivers and streams. Digestion and hydrolysis of a fluorescent substrate by Daphnia is observed by using long wave ultraviolet light. Calculations for lethal concentration are determined. This experiment is adapted from the IQ Toxicity Test, an actual water quality test. This technology is protected under United States patent #5,094,944 and is licensed exclusively from Aqua Survey, Inc. by EDVOTEK for education.
