Affordable, Easy, Fun
Present these demonstrations in front of your class to excite your students about learning core physics concepts. Set up and execution are simple, so you can spend more time engaging your students. Ideal for introducing a unit or using as reinforcement after a lesson, these demos are available for all fundamental physical science topics.
This fun and hands-on activity is a classic way to demonstrate how floating objects displace their weight in water while sinking objects displace their volume. When a toy boat, or other floating object, is placed in a bucket full of water positioned over a deep pan balance, the water that is forced out will be collected in the balance pan. Then, students will remove the boat and place it on the opposite side of the balance to find that it equals the weight of the displaced water! With the included Biofoam, students can also make an exact impression of the boat hull, and then fill it with the displaced water to find that it fits perfectly. When sinking objects are used instead, they'll discover the volume of the object and the displaced liquid to be the same, but not the weight.
Kit includes a 10 quart overflow bucket, deep pan balance, two boats, two boxes of Biofoam, plastic wrap, clay and a demonstration guide.
