Product Information A fascinating demonstration of temperature and pressure, the Fire Piston demonstrates that temperature increases as gases are compressed. A steel piston fits inside a heavy-walled, clear acrylic cylinder having a plastic base. A piston with a large molded handle is used to compress the gas in the glass tube, causing sufficient heat to ignite a small piece of cotton in the tube.
