Product Information

The human body defends itself from attack by infectious agents like bacteria and viruses by producing antibodies. Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assays (ELISA) test for antibodies present in the blood, which indicate infection. In this kit, students perform a simulated ELISA test to identify samples that contain HIV antibodies and compare them to control samples. The full lab activity can be completed in 45 minutes. Materials are included for 10 student groups: antigens, positive and negative controls, sera, secondary antibody, substrate, detection strips, transfer pipettes and test tubes. All you need is water to perform the activity.
