Product Information
Organic acids and alcohol, reacting together, form chemical compounds with distinct odors known as esters, which are used as fragrances and flavorings. The materials provided in this lab activity enable students to produce five different esters, each with a distinct fruit fragrance. After preparing the esters, students construct a chart listing the organic acid, alcohol, and resulting ester, as well as the chemical formula of each. Easy and fast, this lab can be completed in only 45 minutes and comes with enough materials for 15 setups. Note: Additional shipping fee required.
