Product Information

This kit uses actual drill core samples taken from a mine in Pennsylvania to let your students become mining engineers. Designed by former Earth science teacher Sue Kauffman, this kit allows your students to determine mass, volume, density, percentage of iron and, ultimately, the market value of the ore body within their core samples. Includes instructions. Grades 7–10.

Includes: five core samples, 500 mL graduated cylinder and a teacher’s guide with a reproducible student worksheet.
