Product Information
Aligned with AP Chemistry Lab #11Acid Base (pH) indicators are those substances which change in color when they come in contact with an acidic or basic environment. Usually, these substances are used as dissolved substances, like phenolphthalein and bromothymol blue. Test papers and litmus papers are used to measure pH, because of their change in color when immersed in acidic or basic liquids. Many flowers, fruits, and vegetables also contain chemical substances that change color in solutions of different pH. In this experiment, some of these indicators will be extracted. The pH at which the indicators change color can then be investigated. Includes materials for 15 setups. Chemical Contents: Hydrochloric acid Sodium Hydroxide 2-propanol Acetone Additional Materials Required: De-ionized water Fruits Vegetables Flowers Test tubes, 16X160 mm Stirring rods 10-mL graduated cylinders Micro titer plates Zip lock bags Disposable pipettes
