Product Information

Approach the study of raptors and their hunting characteristics from an entirely different aspect. Owls regurgitate the indigestible remains of their meals; the regurgitated “pellets” contain the fur and skeletal parts of their prey.

By dissecting the pellets and examining the bones and bone fragments, students learn about the small animals upon which the owls feed. Compare owl pellets from the Northwest with those of the Southeast to determine the differences in prey.

Each owl pellet is heat-treated and hand-tested to ensure sterility, making them safe for use in your classroom and lab.

Owl pellets are a great item for grade 7 Science to study Food Chains! Students began timidly in their study, but their enthusiasm grew as they identified the species and reconstructed the skeleton of the rodent which the owl had consumed. They recommended the product as a MUST DO for next years class!
