Karyotyping Human Chromosomes Lab Activity
|
Product Information
A fascinating and safe way to explore actual human chromosomes, this hands-on lab activity allows students to prepare and observe a human chromosome spread and then examine the banding pattern. They’ll determine several factors, including sex and abnormalities, such as Down’s, Turner’s and Klinefelter’s Syndrome. The cells were captured at a point of maximum contraction during mitosis so that the banding patterns are clearly visible. Includes materials for 30 students, a teacher’s guide, student study and analysis copymasters, full instructions, data tables and study questions. Note: refrigerated fixed cells and 5 mL of trypsin are required but not included.
