Appropriate for Grades 9-12The Kool Column Chromatography & Spectrophotometric Analysis kit, which uses methods that mimic those used in research and industry, give students the opportunity to run isopropyl alcohol through a liquid chromatography cartridge to separate grape Kool-Aid into its colored dye components. Using their results, they then analyze the components and compare the spectra to those of known standards using visible spectrophotometry.
Developed by Tim Graham. Includes materials for six student groups, cartridges, Kool-Aid, alcohol, syringes, test tubes and FD&C standard dyes. Please note, a spectrophotometer is required but not included.
