Product Information

Simple and safe to use with dramatic results, this demonstration offers a way to study flame testing and spectroscopy without having to be close to the flames and fumes. Simply place a small amount of a metal salt onto a watch glass, add a bit of methanol, and ignite. Students will be able to see the brilliant characteristic colors of each metal, without using a spectroscope.

For more in-depth study, students can view the flames through a spectroscope (sold separately) and complete the included exercises. Includes materials for 10 class demonstrations, a teacher and student guide with instructions and worksheets. Grades 8–11.
