Product Information

Now you can easily perform Lord Kelvin’s famous electrostatics experiment right in your classroom. This large demonstration apparatus includes a water reservoir with tubing, droppers, brass rings, wire, two “catch cans,” and a lamp, all mounted on a wood base. As the water flows through the droppers and rings and then into the catch cans, the droplets break apart, inducing an electrical current and setting up a potential difference that is enough to light a 6V neon bulb. Developed by Bruce Yeany. Includes instructions. Grades 7–12.
