Product Information

An excellent apparatus for demonstrating the force due to atmospheric pressure (Guericke’s Method). The apparatus consists of two ABS hemispheres, one of which has an exhaust connector and valve. The hemispheres are 9.5 cm in diameter and the exhaust valve fits 6.4 mm diameter pressure tubing. Each has a handle and eye bolts for rope attachment.

The force holding the hemispheres together is nearly 136 kg when they are properly exhausted. The unit may be exhausted with a water aspirator or a hand pump.
