Mapping the Unknown Seafloor Activity (Teacher-Developed, Classroom-Tested)
|
Product Information
Imitate the technique used to map unseen sea floors. By inserting “sounding rods” through a box containing one of four unknown sea floors, students measure depth and chart it on grid paper, then cut and paste the paper to form a scale model of the floor. Students can plot a guyot, rift valley, seamount, or volcano. Grades 8-10. Each kit includes a box, sea floor form, three rods, pad of plotting grids, instructions, and teacher’s guide. Developed by Joe Gilbert.
