Product Information
There is little question that hypervelocity impacts have played an immensely powerful role in the formation and evolution of the Earth, and the varied and many life forms that call it home. The moon is probably the result of such an impact, and the extinction of the dinosaurs is almost certainly another. This survey takes students around the world to visit the 170 known impact sites, including the Chicxulub, Mexico impact site that may have caused the extinction of the dinosaurs. The full color topographic maps are coded to show location, and provide information on diameter, age, and other features of the impact craters. Craters are also listed by location/name and diameter/name. Lists include the 25 oldest craters and 25 youngest craters, and all craters with shattercones. Ideal supporting material for any lesson on meteors, asteroids, Earth formation, or the evolution of life.
