Demonstrate detection of the mutation that causes Sickle Cell Anemia with this DNA electrophoresis simulation lab Your students will use agarose gel electrophoresis to separate dyes that represent patient samples and controls. Materials are provided for 10 student groups, and the activity can be completed in 45 minutes. Kit contains dye samples, agarose powder, practice loading solution, electrophoresis buffer, microtip transfer pipets. An electrophoresis tank, power supply, microwave or hotplate are required, but not included .
