This lab uses an ingenious gas collection method to collect and determine the amount of CO2 liberated from a reaction between NaHCO3 and HCI. The ideal gas law and Dalton’s law of partial pressure are used to determine the number of moles of CO2 gas actually produced. Materials for 4 classes of 10 lab stations. High school. Developed by Mary Gallup. Includes: gas collecting tubes, Alka-Seltzer tables, HCI, NaHCO3, test tubes, stoppers glycerol, instructions. An electronic balance with readability to 0.01g is required but not included. Grades 10–12.
