Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) is a technique used to replicate or copy DNA sequences. The objective of this manipulative is to demonstrate how PCR works and how it can be used to amplify specific regions of DNA molecules. Did you know that the entire process can produce 1 million copies of the target DNA in less than 2 hours? Manipulating paper clips, students work in pairs, to gain understanding of the process. The kit was developed by a group of students in Sharon Gusky's college class. Each of the 15 lab groups has their own paperclip organizer for quick and easy set up and breakdown. Lesson plans and reproducible student lab included.
