Product InformationSpring students into energy studies with this fun demonstration. Pop-Ups are the ideal illustration of potential and kinetic energy. Work is done by the spring when students push it down, and it is stored as potential energy. This potential energy is then released as kinetic energy and transformed into gravitational potential energy when the Pop-Up springs back up. Students can quantitatively investigate the relationship between the height achieved by the pop-up and the velocity at which it was launched. Using the six included syringes, students also investigate how higher and lower pressures affect the time for the pop-up to launch. Each syringe is large enough to place the entire pop-up inside as it acts as a mini vacuum jar for either high or low pressure. The kit contains 30 pop-ups, six syringes, and instructions.
