Home > Portable Classroom Foucault Pendulum
|
Product Information
Over 150 years ago, Jean Bernard Lčon Foucault developed a pendulum apparatus with a 62 pound ball of large mass suspended on a 200 foot wire. As the ball swung throughout the day, the direction sometimes changed, defying laws of physics and proving then that the Earth itself must be rotating. Now you can duplicate this experiment on a much smaller scale. Using parametrically driven motion, this classroom sized pendulum moves up and down twice its natural frequency. Controlled by its own microprocessor, it adds energy at just the right moments in the swing. The result is a pendulum which proves Foucault’s theory in the space of one class period. Easy to assemble, the pendulum comes apart for convenient storage and portability. Size: 52?H.
