Product Information
Recombinant DNA technology can be a difficult subject for even Honors biology high school students to fully grasp, and the associated terminology is often a source of confusion.
This activity uses Velcro™ “genes” and “plasmids” to provide students with something tangible to manipulate, giving them a visual aid to the terms involved in the process.
As a result there should be a complete understanding of what recombinant DNA technology is, and which materials are involved in the process. This kit can also be used to demonstrate DNA replication, protein synthesis, mitosis and meiosis. Developed by Julie Bohrer. Grades 9-AP.
Includes: 2- 2x24” Velcro™ strips (pair), 2 acetate sheets, dual tip permanent markets - 4 colors,
instructions with student guide, instructional video tape, Recombinant DNA student pad/100, teacher restriction enzyme acetate.
