Product Information

Developed by Lynn and Bert Wartski, this simple DNA extraction lab uses a homogenizing solution that lets students quickly isolate chromatin and its component DNA.
Students perform the extraction, then study an allium microslide to see the stained DNA chromatin during interphase and the chromosomes during mitosis. Grades 7-10.
Includes: homogenizing medium, cheese cloth, ethanol, funnels, glass rods, tweezers, cups, allium microslide, MSD sheet and a teacher’s guide with reproducible student worksheets. (Please note: A microscope with at least 400x is required but not included.)
