The lenses on these instruments are optically excellent and provide exceptional sharpness and maximum clarity. The 4x lens is semi-plan to insure a large flat field of view under low power. An image can be optimized by controlling both contrast (iris diaphragm) and brightness (rheostat). Each eyetube has a diopter adjustment to compensate for differences in focus between human eyes (and a micro video camera on the trinocular version). Designed for comfort, the binocular eyetubes are mounted with an interpupillary distance adjustment. In addition, the controls are well-placed and move smoothly and securely. The instrument's base is large and solid. The trinocular version is supplied with a vertical eyetube
