Product Information Give your students a taste of science (literally) with this fun, yet challenging kit. Using pre-treated taste test strips, students test whether they have inherited the ability to taste a harmless substance known as PTC (phenylthiocarbamide). Students form a pedigree for their individual family; analyze class data to determine whether the gene for tasting PTC is autosomal, dominant or recessive; calculate the frequency of the recessive and dominant genes and genotypes for their class; and use the Hardy Weinberg Theory to predict the frequency of the genotypes in a large population.
