Product Information

In this lab students amplify a variable DNA region known as D1S80 and identify whether a student is homozygous or heterozygous for the D1S80 locus.
They develop scenarios for crime solving and identity testing within which to conduct these experiments. Then cast an agarose gel, isolate DNA, and prepare DNA samples.
Comes with enough materials for up to 40 PCR reactions and a teacher’s study guide with student study and analysis copymasters.
Needed but not provided are a thermal cycler or two water baths, electrophoresis chamber, power supply, microcentrifuge, micropipets, marking pens, timer, and perishables set (DNA sample set, PCR mix, and DNA), which requires a ship date.
