Easy to set-up, Easy to use, and Robust! Powered by only sunlight and water, a working fuel-cell model car that actually drives. The Hydrogen Fuel Cell Model Car demonstrate a method of storing energy generated from a renewable energy source, in the form of hydrogen and oxygen gases. Matter is neither gained to nor lost from this system; only energy is transferred from one form to another. As long as the rivers flow, the wind blows or the sun shines a solar hydrogen fuel-cell system can provide sustainable electrical power where and when required.
Three simple steps will get you motoring:
Step 1: Fill the reversible fuel cell with distilled water
Step 2: Connect the reversible fuel cell to the solar module. Illuminate the solar module and watch break up the water into 2 parts hydrogen and 1 part oxygen.
Step 3: Connect the reversible fuel cell to the electric motor on the car, and watch the model car drive away.
Includes:
•Solar module: Converts the radiant energy of sunlight into electrical energy
•Reversible fuel cell: When connected to the solar module, the reversible fuel cell behaves as an electrolyzer. That is, it breaks distilled water into hydrogen and oxygen gases. This reversible fuel cell uses new PEM technology*. As a result no add chemicals are required for operation. The gases are stored in graduated cylinders, which are attached to the sides of the unit.
•Model car platform with electric motor: When the solar cell is disconnected from the reversible fuel cell and the electric motor is connected in its place, the reversible fuel cell now operates as a fuel cell. That is, it recombines the hydrogen and oxygen gases to produce water and electricity. The electricity powers the motor, which drives the car wheels.
