AP Chemistry: Freezing Point Depression to Determine Molecular Mass
|
Product Information
Molecular mass is a useful parameter in determining the identity of an unknown compound. One technique to determine the molecular mass of an unknown is to measure the effect the compound has on the freezing point of a solvent in which the unknown is dissolved. With the materials in this kit and a melting point apparatus, students measure freezing point depression and calculate the molecular mass of a solute. Includes: p-Dichlorobenzene, 2,6 Di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol, Naphthalene, Stearic acid, and instructions.
