Product Information
Reaction rate is governed by reactant concentration and temperature. Iodine converts to a tri-iodide complex when it reacts with starch, turning dark blue-black. However, upon heating, the color changes as the concentration of one of the reactants changes.Using this data students can determine the reaction rate, the rate law, calculate the activation temperature, and be able to comment on the observed values versus the expected values and how might the methods employed be changed to improve the quality of the data obtained. Includes: Hydrogen Peroxide (3%) solution; Potassium Iodide (0.1%) solution; Sodium Thiosulfate (0.001M) solution; Hydrochloric Acid (0.1M ) Starch Solution Capsules; Beral pipets and instructions.
