When we think of fossils typically we think of the large bones of dinosaurs or other prehistoric creatures. But there's more to the paleoworld than huge lumbering beasts.
This fossil kit contains a .25 lb bag of 20 million year old Pliocene invertebrate and vertebrate fossils of North Carolina. Although small in size these are the fossilized remains of whales, fish, porpoises, sting rays, sharks, clams, snails, star fish, sea urchins and many other marine creatures.
Using their tweezer (included) and a magnifying glass or microscope, students will delight in exploring the details of bony fish teeth, shark vertebrate, ray stinger barbs, tiny clams and more. Purchase several and split your class into groups of explorers who can compare and contrast what they find.
