Product Information This lab demonstrates the morphology of the brain. Students distinguish between astrocytes and neurons, and gain an appreciation of the architecture and composition of brain cells. In recent years an increasing amount of evidence has been gathered that suggests that astrocytes, once considered only "supporting actors" to the star neurons, may actually play an active role in brain function by affecting the activity of neurons.
