Paper Clip Coefficient: A Manipulative for Balancing Chemical Equations (Teacher-Developed, Classroom-Tested)
|
Product Information
This clever manipulative to help students visualize balancing equations. Using coefficients to balance chemical equations is often mysterious and confusing to students. In this introductory balancing exercise, different colored paper clips represent different atoms. Students will manipulate these concrete objects to balance a chemical equation and then will be able to visually "see" the Law of Conservation of Matter, by counting equal numbers of each color paper clips on either side of the reaction. Developed by Fran "ZAK" Zakutansky.
