Product Information

This lab, developed by Heather Baxter, uses specially designed cubes to teach radioactive decay on a variety of levels. The simplest activity illustrates decay and half-lives and allows students to see that substances with different half-lives decay at different rates and in different amounts of time. A more advanced activity simulates a radioactive decay series. In the most advanced activity, students mathematically show that radioactive decay is a first-order process. Includes instructions and materials for 10 student groups. Grades 8–12.
