Slow Rollers
|
Product Information
Teach students how to predict speed using Newton’s Laws. In this simple activity, students design devices intended to roll as slowly as possible down an inclined meter stick. The supplied short light rods of different diameters, and heavy metal discs, also of differing inside and outside diameters, are the only materials necessary to construct these slow rolling devices. Once built, your class will conduct experiments to determine how shaft diameter, mass, and moment of inertia affect their speed after rolling down the inclined meter stick. Includes instruction manual and materials for five student groups.
