ScholAR Determination of the Rate of Reaction and Reaction Kinetics Lab Activity
|
Product Information
Aligned with AP Chemistry Lab #12The rate at which most chemical reactions occur is dependent on the concentration of the reactants and the temperature. Iodine, which converts to the tri-iodide complex when it reacts with starch, turns dark blue-black. Changing the temperature or concentration changes the rate at which the solution’s color changes from clear to blue-black; this allows students to determine the reaction rate, calculate rate law, and determine the activation temperature. The effects of adding a catalyst will also be determined. The kit comes with enough materials for 15 setups. Chemical Contents:Copper Sulfate Solution Potassium Persulfate Solution Potassium Sulfate Solution Sodium Chloride Solution Sodium Iodide Solution Sodium Thiosulfate Solution Starch Solution Additional Materials Required:400 mL Beakers Hot Plate Test Tubes with Stoppers Stopwatch Thermometer
