Regulation of Gene Expression
|
Product Information
Gene expression refers to the manifestation of the genetic material of an organism as a collection of specific traits; in other words, the process by which a gene is expressed or expresses itself. In this lab, students discover how this process can be controlled by regulatory enzymes and temperature in a bacterial strain. The results of temperature fluctuations on the bacteria are easy to see — when the bacterial gene is expressed, and an enzyme is produced, the samples turn a brilliant shade of red! Includes materials for six student groups, student activity copymaster, and teacher’s manual. Note: kit includes perishable materials; please specify ship date.
