Product Information

The specially cut, wedge-shaped foam beaches on this ripple tank dampen reflections more effectively than hard sloping beaches or vertical walls, providing excellent performance and results. Reflections are all but eliminated. The bottom is a single sheet of absolutely flat plate glass that provides optically clear, distortion-free viewing. The unobstructed glass measures 43cm on each side providing 1,849cm2 of clear viewing area. The perimeter of the tank is molded of heavy-gauge styrene with a rigid internal frame that prevents twisting or warping. The hardwood legs thread directly into the frame and come with adjustable, shock-absorbing feet. The rippler bar is oil finished hardwood, 40cm long. The two point sources may be mounted with three different spacings, one of which can be center mounted. The rippler motor, which snaps onto the rippler bar, comes with 75cm long banana-plug-tipped wires. It operates on 1.5 to 6V DC and has an adjustable counterweight for controlling amplitude. CSA approved. The unit includes a vertical light support, 4 paraffin blocks, a parabolic reflector, an adjustable support and suspension system for the rippler, a 20 x 20cm sheet of clear plate glass with ground edges for refraction experiments, a large white plastic viewing screen and complete assembly instructions. No tools are required for set up. Size: 43 x 43cm.
