Product Information
Students will discover how to convert alternating current to direct current as they construct this fully functioning miniature windmill. At wind speeds of 12 mph it produces approximately 3.0V/50mA, and its output can be greatly expanded using the rectification adaptor. Users are walked through every aspect of capturing and converting wind power into electricity, building an alternator, and conversion of electricity. Most importantly, they will learn how to S-foil wind blades which, unlike horizontal wind blades, are capable of capturing kinetic energy from any wind direction. Students are guided through a variety of customizable circuit possibilities including half wave rectifiers, smoothing capacitors, full wave rectifiers, and voltage double rectifiers.
The kit is ideal for science fair projects, classroom demonstrations, and atőhome teaching, and uses a safe, solderless breadboard allowing for penalty-free mistakes. While this kit can be easily built and safely operated by children ages 10 and up, it is fully capable of demonstrating the advanced scientific principles of alternative energy, magnetic induction, alternating current, and aerodynamic principles covered in many high school and undergraduate science classes.
