Product Information

This is a simple and safe paper chromatography kit. Using three different types of developers (polar, nonpolar and combination), students separate the components of a dye mixture and evaluate the effectiveness of each developer. Students will also separate and observe the individual plant pigments that give leaves their colors and determine the Rf value and function of each pigment during photosynthesis. The hazards associated with paper chromatography are significantly reduced with this kit, thanks to the use of specially formulated plant pigment extracts and developers, and self-contained chromatography reaction chambers. Includes materials for 10 student groups, teacher’s guide with answers, and a reproducible student guides.
